Home Assistant notify recipes

Route ProbeHarbor freeze and leak alerts into Home Assistant notify, TTS, and mobile push: outbound webhooks, HACS services, and inbound snooze.

ProbeHarbor can wake the house through Home Assistant: mobile push, TTS on a speaker, or a light flash, while email/SMS stay as the out-of-band backup. Use these recipes when you already run HA on the LAN.

Option A. HACS integration (share link)

  1. Create a family live or Pro share link under Dashboard → Share → Links.
  2. Install the ProbeHarbor HACS integration and point it at that URL.
  3. Build an automation on sensor.*_temperature below your freeze threshold that calls notify.mobile_app_… or tts.speak.

Option B: outbound alert webhook (Pro)

  1. Enable the outbound webhook under Dashboard → Alerts (Pro).
  2. In HA, create an automation triggered by webhook (or use the HA companion REST notify path).
  3. Map ProbeHarbor JSON fields (title, body, kind) into notify or tts.cloud_say.

        # Example: HA automation sketch (adapt entity ids)
alias: ProbeHarbor freeze → phone + TTS
trigger:
  - platform: webhook
    webhook_id: probeharbor_freeze
action:
  - service: notify.mobile_app_phone
    data:
      title: "{{ trigger.json.title }}"
      message: "{{ trigger.json.body }}"
  - service: tts.speak
    target:
      entity_id: media_player.kitchen_display
    data:
      message: "Freeze risk. {{ trigger.json.body }}"

Option C: inbound snooze from HA

When you are working in a cold bay, call the ProbeHarbor inbound webhook (action=snooze or vacation) from an HA script so threshold alerts pause while you work (snooze) or routine alerts pause while you travel (vacation), without opening the dashboard. Guide: ingest and webhooks.

Keep an out-of-band channel

Local notify fails when the LAN or HA host is down. Keep ProbeHarbor email and push (and SMS on Pro) enabled so freeze risk still reaches a phone that is not on the same Wi‑Fi.
