Install

  1. Create a push device under Dashboard → Devices and copy the ingest key.
  2. In Node-RED: Menu → Import → upload mqtt-to-probeharbor.json (or paste the URL).
  3. Set env PROBEHARBOR_INGEST_KEY (or edit the function node). Point MQTT nodes at your broker.
  4. Deploy and confirm HTTP 200 on the debug node. Readings appear under Devices / Overview.

The flow rate-limits to about 1 POST per minute and includes an optional garage-door tab. ProbeHarbor is not an MQTT broker — keep Mosquitto on the LAN.

What it POSTs

Envelope for POST /api/ingest/mqtt with header X-Ingest-Key:

{
  "topic": "home/garage/temp",
  "message": { "temp1": 42.5, "humidity": 55 }
}

Node-RED FAQ

Import, keys, and how this relates to Home Assistant.

Do I need Node-RED if I already have Home Assistant?

No. HACS can poll a share link for entities. Use Node-RED when you already mirror Mosquitto topics with flows and want HTTPS POSTs into ProbeHarbor without exposing the broker. Guide: probeharbor.dev/integrations/node-red.

Where is the flow file?

Download probeharbor.dev/nodered/mqtt-to-probeharbor.json — temperature tab plus optional garage-door tab, rate-limited to about one POST per minute.

Is ProbeHarbor an MQTT broker?

No. Keep Mosquitto local. Node-RED (or HA rest_command) POSTs to /api/ingest/mqtt with your push device key.
