Garage sensors in SmartThings
Use the ProbeHarbor Matterbridge plugin so SmartThings (and Apple/Google) see garage sensors — no separate Cloud-to-Cloud app.
No Cloud-to-Cloud app (on purpose)
A Samsung SmartThings Cloud-to-Cloud connector means store review, OAuth, and a second cloud hop. ProbeHarbor already has a Matterbridge plugin that exposes share-link temperature, humidity, leak, door, power, and motion on your LAN. SmartThings (like Apple Home and Google Home) can add that Matter bridge — one install path for all three.
Setup
- Create a family live share link under Dashboard → Share.
- Install Matterbridge + probeharbor-matter on a Pi/NAS.
- In the SmartThings app: add a Matter device / scan the Matterbridge QR (same flow as other Matter bridges).
- Keep freeze SMS on ProbeHarbor push ingest — Matter polling is for glance and local automations.
When to stay on ProbeHarbor alone
Consumer ST/Govee pods win on price for bedrooms. For detached garages and shops, ESP ingest + household freeze/leak channels still beat vendor Bluetooth range. See ProbeHarbor vs Govee / SmartThings.
SmartThings FAQ
Matter path vs a dedicated SmartThings cloud app.
Is there an official SmartThings Cloud-to-Cloud app?
No. Use the Matterbridge plugin (probeharbor.dev/integrations/matter) so SmartThings can add garage sensors over Matter on your LAN — same path as Apple Home.
Will freeze SMS still work?
Yes. Critical alerts stay on ProbeHarbor push ingest and Pro SMS/email. Matter polling is for glance and ST automations.
Should I replace Govee pods with this?
Only if you want ESP-class garage coverage and exportable history. For bedrooms, Govee/ST pods can still win on price — see probeharbor.dev/compare/govee.
